Overview

When the BlackBerry device is not connected to the computer, BlackBerry Desktop Redirector displays the following message in the Status field:
In cradle - forwarding turned off



Cause

There are multiple causes for this error.
 
Summary of Causes
  1. The BlackBerry Desktop Software does not recognize the email redirection settings.
  2. There are connection problems between the BlackBerry Desktop Software and BlackBerry Enterprise Server.



Resolution

Refer to the appropriate resolution that relates to the cause of this error.

Cause 1
BlackBerry Desktop Software does not recognize the message redirection settings.
 
Resolution
Reconfigure the email redirection options. Complete the following steps:
  1. In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, click theRedirector Settings.
  2. On the General tab, select the Disable email redirection to handheld while in cradle option, then clickApply.
  3. Clear the Disable email redirection to handheld option while in cradle, then click Apply.

Cause 2
There are connection problems between the BlackBerry Desktop software and the  BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
 
Resolution 1
In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, complete the following steps:
  1. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager, then wait until the BlackBerry Desktop Redirector displays the correct status. For example, Running or (BlackBerry Enterprise Server name) Running.
  2. Change the contents of the Status field by disconnecting the BlackBerry device from the computer.
  3. Close and reopen the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, then connect the BlackBerry device to the computer.
Resolution 2
On the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, complete one of the following procedures:
  • If the personal information number (PIN) of the BlackBerry device is listed on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, open the BlackBerry device user′s mailbox properties, then click Clear In Cradle.
     
    OR
     
  • Complete the following steps:
    1. Remove the affected BlackBerry device user account from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
    2. Click Yes to wipe the client database, then re-add the user account and generate an encryption key.
       
      Note: The BlackBerry Enterprise Server may need to be restarted if the BlackBerry device user’s account status displays Initializing after generating the encryption key. Restarting certain BlackBerry Enterprise Server services will delay message delivery to BlackBerry devices. For more information, see KB-04789.
