Products

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server
  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for Microsoft® Exchange

Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 2.1
  • Microsoft® Exchange 5.5 and 2000

Overview

In a mixed Microsoft Exchange Server environment, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is not accessible from the Exchange 2000 System Manager. Additionally, BlackBerry tabs are not available from Blackberry device user mailbox information screens.

Adding and Viewing Users

Use the Global Address List (GAL) on the Exchange 5.5 Server to add BlackBerry device users.

To view BlackBerry device user information, use Exchange Administrator on the Exchange 5.5 Server. In the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Properties window of the BlackBerry Servers object, use the Handheld Manager to view BlackBerry device user information.

Managing the BlackBerry Enterprise Server

In a mixed Exchange Server environment, we recommend you manage the BlackBerry Enterprise Server with the Microsoft Management Console (MMC):

  1. Install MMC 1.2. (MMC is included with Microsoft Windows® 2000 and Windows 2003).

If you are running BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 2.1 on a Windows NT® server, install BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 2.1 Service Pack 5.

  2. Uninstall the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration extensions.

Go to Start > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > Uninstall Administration Extensions and follow the on-screen instructions to remove the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration extensions.
