OverviewMessages are encrypted when they are sent between BlackBerry® Desktop Manager and the BlackBerry smartphone. The BlackBerry smartphone can only receive messages that are sent with the correct encryption key. The encryption key is stored on the Blackberry smartphone and must match the key stored in the BlackBerry smartphone user’s mailbox. Failure to match the two keys results in an encryption or decryption error. Encryption is used as a security measure to ensure that the BlackBerry smartphone receives messages sent from the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Encryption keys can be manually or automatically generated. For maximum security, new keys should be generated every two to four weeks. For more information on generating an encryption key, see KB02740. For more information on decryption errors, see KB00166. |
