Overview

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server account requires the following permissions for Microsoft Windows 2000 and 2003 as well as for Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2003:

  • Log on locally with local permissions. This is optional, but useful for troubleshooting. If you prefer, you can remove this permission after you install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. If you need to install a service pack or hot fix, these permissions are required. This permission is set by default.
  • Log on as a service permission is granted automatically when you install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Verify that it has been granted.
  • Local administrator permission on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service computer.
  • Exchange View Only Administrator access set at the Administrative Groups level to be able to read from the Microsoft Active Directory®.
  • Administer Information store, Receive as, and Send as permissions set at the Mailbox store level or the Microsoft Exchange Server level (to write information to the administration service account mailbox). 
  • Send as permission set at the Domain level for User Objects in Active Directory. Please refer to article KB04707 for information.
