Overview

 

Summary of Tasks

To change the administration account and migrate the administration mailbox from a Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Server to a Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, complete the following tasks:

  1. Create a new Microsoft Windows 2000 domain account.
  2. Permission the new account appropriately.
  3. Record the configuration information from your existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
  4. Migrate the administration mailbox and change the administration account.

Task 1

Create a new Microsoft Windows 2000 domain account to use as the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account. Do not create a mailbox. The new account must be a member of the same Windows 2000 domain as the original service account.


Task 2

Permission the new account appropriately to grant it access to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration mailbox.

On the Exchange 5.5 Server

  1. Make the new domain account the primary Microsoft Windows NT® account for the existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration mailbox.
  2. Grant the required permissions to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account. For instructions, see theBlackBerry Enterprise Server 3.5 for Microsoft Exchange 5.5: Installation andGetting Started Guide.

On the Exchange 2000 Server

  1. In Active Directory Users and Computers, right-click the new BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account, then clickProperties.
  2. On the Exchange Advanced tab, click Mailbox Rights.
  3. Select the Full mailbox access check box.
  4. Click Apply, then clickOK.
  5. Click OK again to close the administration account Properties window.
  6. Grant the required permissions to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account. For instructions, see theBlackBerry Enterprise Server 3.5 for Microsoft Exchange 2000: Installation andGetting Started Guide.

Task 3

Record the following configuration information from your existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server:

  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server name
  • Service Routing Protocol (SRP) Identifier
  • SRP Authentication Key
  • Administration mailbox name

Task 4

Migrate the administration mailbox and change the administration account. Before proceeding, verify that the Exchange 5.5 and 2000 servers are members of the same site.

Warning: The following procedure involves modifying the computer registry. This can cause substantial damage to the Microsoft Windows operating system. Document and back up the registry entries prior to implementing any changes.

  1. In Administrative Tools Services, right-click theBlackBerry Enterprise ServerService, then click Stop.
  2. Migrate the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration mailbox from the Exchange 5.5 Server to the Exchange 2000 Server using the Exchange Move Mailbox Wizard. For instructions, see your Exchange user guide.
  3. Copy the ICSSync folder to your desktop.

    Note: This folder is located in C:Program FilesResearch In MotionBlackBerry Enterprise Server.

  4. To open the Registry Editor, clickStart > Run, type regedit, and click OK.
  5. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware.
  6. From the File menu, clickExport and save the Research In Motion registry entry to the desktop.
  7. Close the Registry Editor.
  8. Log on to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server with the new administration account.
  9. Open the Registry Editor.
  10. From the File menu, clickImport, select the Research In Motion registry entry you exported in step 6 of Task 4, and clickOK.
  11. Install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server software.
  12. Place a copy of the CDO.DLL file that is located in the C:Exchsrvrin directory of your Exchange 2000 Server into the C:WINNTsystem32 folder on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

    Note: The CDO.DLL file can also be found on the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server installation CD.

  13. To register the CDO.DLL file, click Start > Run, then type regsvr32 CDO.DLL.
  14. In the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management console, right-click Routing Group, then click New Blackberry Server.
  15. Enter the BlackBerry Enterprise Server configuration information you recorded in Task 3.
  16. Delete the ICSsync folder that was created with the new server, then replace it with theICSsync folder that you copied to your desktop in step 3 of Task 4.
  17. In Administrative Tools Services, right-click theBlackBerry Enterprise Server Service, then clickStart.
  18. Close the Services window.
