Environment
OverviewWhen you assign a BlackBerry smartphone to a BlackBerry smartphone user, the BlackBerry smartphone is associated with the BlackBerry smartphone user’s email account and service books are installed. You can assign a BlackBerry smartphone in one of the following ways:
Note: Only one email address can be associated with a single personal identfication number (PIN) for BlackBerry smartphone users with accounts on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. If the BlackBerry smartphone user already has a previous BlackBerry smartphone assigned, these steps will remove that association and assign the new BlackBerry smartphone to that BlackBerry smartphone user. With the Handheld Configuration Tool using BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.0 On the administration computer that runs the Handheld Configuration Tool, complete the following steps:
With BlackBerry Manager using BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1 On the computer running BlackBerry Enterprise Server, open the BlackBerry Manager.
With a Wireless Enterprise Activation On the administration computer that runs BlackBerry Manager, the administrator deploys the BlackBerry smartphone wirelessly by generating an activation password and sending it to the BlackBerry smartphone user. Then, on the BlackBerry smartphone, the BlackBerry smartphone user enters the password provided by the admistrator to activate the BlackBerry smartphone wirelessly. System Adminstrator Generates the Activation Password

With BlackBerry Desktop Manager Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Note: If Connected does not appear in the title bar of BlackBerry Desktop Manager, as in the graphic below, go to Options > Connection Settings and select Detect.
