Overview

To avoid decryption errors after switching from a BlackBerry Wireless Handheld to a device with BlackBerry Connect or BlackBerry Built-In, follow the procedure below when either of the following are true:

  • The user currently has an account or previously had an account on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server configured with only Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).

OR

  • The user currently has an account or previously had an account on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server configured with both AES and Triple Data Encryption Standard (DES).

If the user’s account has always been on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server configured with only Triple DES, this procedure is not required.

  1. Ensure that Triple DES is enabled on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. If the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is configured with AES, Triple DES must be enabled as well.
  2. If the BlackBerry Enterprise Server previously had only AES or AES and Triple DES, remove the user from the server. If prompted, wipe the client database.
  3. Add the user to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server again.
  4. Connect the new BlackBerry-enabled device to the personal computer. The user does not need to uninstall BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
