  • BlackBerry® Professional Software
  • BlackBerry smartphones

Overview

When you send a meeting request from the BlackBerry smartphone, the meeting appears in the message list with a red X and you receive the following error:

Unlisted Message Error

Cause

This issue may be caused by one of the following:

  1. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server version does not support Microsoft Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2.
  2. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server is unable to use the CDO.DLL file to perform Calendar application functions.
  3. Your mailbox is hidden in the Global Address List.

Resolution

Cause 1

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server version does not support Microsoft Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2.

Resolution 1

Install one of the following versions of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server:

  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.1
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.0 SP 5
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 3.6 SP 7

Cause 2

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server is unable to use the CDO.DLL file to perform Calendar application functions.

Resolution 2

Complete one of the following options:

Option 1

Check that the version of the Microsoft Exchange System Management Tools is compatible with the Microsoft® Exchange messaging and collaboration server.

  1. On the Microsfot Exchange server, locate the MAPI32.DLL and CDO.DLL and note the versions for each.
  2. On the computer running the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, locate the MAPI32.DLL and CDO.DLL and note the versions of each.
  3. If the versions of the files are later for the Microsoft Exchange server than on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, an upgrade may be required on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Option 2

Check that the correct permissions are assigned to the administration account for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange. For example, BESAdmin.

For Microsoft Exchange 2000 or 2003

  1. Right-click the Microsoft Exchange administrative group name and select Delegate Control.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Add the service account as an Exchange View Only Administrator, if it is not already present.
  4. Expand Administrative Groups > First Administrative Group > Servers.
  5. Right-click the Exchange Server name, select Properties, then click the Security tab.
  6. Make sure that the Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to this object check box is selected.
  7. Choose the service account name and add any missing check boxes for Administer information store, Receive As, and Send As.
  8. Click Apply, and then click OK.

For Microsoft Exchange 5.5

In the  Microsoft Exchange Administrator account, turn on  the Service Account Admin permission for the new service account in both the Site and Configuration containers. For more information on setting permissions, see the Microsoft Exchange 5.5 documentation on the Microsoft Support Knowledge Base at http://support.microsoft.com/.

Option 3

Important: Restarting the BlackBerry Enterprise Server will delay email message delivery to BlackBerry smartphones. For more information, see KB04789.

Register the CDO.DLL file. For instructions, see KB02937.

Cause 3

Your mailbox is hidden in the Global Address List.

Resolution 3

  1. Open your BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange account properties in Active Directory.
  2. Click the Exchange Advanced tab.
  3. Clear the Hide from Exchange address lists check box.
