How to migrate BlackBerry smartphones to a new domain in the same Microsoft Exchange Organization

Overview

To keep the Microsoft Exchange Servers in the same Microsoft Exchange Organization and move them within the same forest complete the following steps:

  1. After moving the Exchange Server to the new Domain the BlackBerry Enterprise Server needs an update on the location of the mailbox, which is tracked by the ServerDN. The ServerDN property can be updated in three ways.
    • Stop and start all of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services.

      Important: Restarting certain BlackBerry Enterprise Server services delays email message delivery to BlackBerry smartphones. For more information, see KB04789.
    • Restart the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
    • Run handheldcleanup.exe -u from the command prompt. For instructions see, KB00140.
  2. Re-create the BlackBerry Enterprise Server MAPI profile.
    1. Log in to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server using the service account.
    2. Stop the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services.
    3. Open the Registry Editor and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWindows Messaging SubsystemProfiles.
    4. In the Profiles folder, select the profile name that is used for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and delete it. If multiple profiles exist, delete all of them. Delete all sub-entries as well.
    5. Close the Registry Editor.
    6. Create a new MAPI profile using the steps outlined in KB10285
    7. Start the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services.
