Updating the BlackBerry Enterprise Server with the new mailbox location

After you move BlackBerry device users from Exchange 2000 Server to  Exchange 2003 Server, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server must be updated with the new mailbox location. Use one of the following three methods to do this:

  • Important: Restarting the BlackBerry Enterprise Server or certain BlackBerry Enterprise Server services will delay email message delivery to BlackBerry devices. For more information, see KB04789.

  • Stop and start all of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services.
  • Restart the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
  • Run handheldcleanup.exe -u from the command prompt. For more information on the handheldcleanup.exe tool, see KB00140.

If a BlackBerry device user is unable to send or receive email messages after the mailbox has been moved, see KB00142 for more information.

Cleaning up the MAPI subsystem to resolve any issues

If you experience any issues after completing the steps above, you can clean up the MAPI subsystem profile information as follows:

Warning: The following procedure involves modifying the computer registry. This can cause substantial damage to the Microsoft Windows® operating system. Document and back up the registry entries prior to implementing any changes.

  1. Navigate to the following registry key.
