Overview

When attempting to send an email message from a Bell® Sympatico™ email account using BlackBerry Unite! software, a red x displays beside the email message with the following failure notice:

Desktop program unable to submit message




Cause

Some Bell Sympatico Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) servers use Transport Layer Security (TLS). BlackBerry Unite! software does not support TLS.




Resolution

To resolve this issue, complete the following steps:

Note: This resolution may not apply to all Bell Sympatico email accounts.

  1. Delete the Bell Sympatico email account from BlackBerry Unite! software. See KB14861 for more information.
  2. Add the Bell Sympatico email account to BlackBerry Unite! software using SMTPa.sympatico.ca as the SMTP server name. See KB14836 for more information.

    Important: The user ID for a Bell Sympatico email account is the full email address.
